jamesoveiNovember was a hard month. Six people within my ambit died that month, including people I've known since high school, recent friends, two I met as teens when I managed a movie theater, and one family member. We begin 2022 with one of my college professors in the hospital. His doctors have almost decided he belongs in a hospice while his current partner is trying to have him sent to a hospital closer to home. I fear I'll be going to another funeral soon.
I do not need the constant reminders of my own mortality when a pandemic seems to have everything in life on hold around me.
One thing that isn't on hold is damned racists having books removed from libraries because their feelings are hurt. Seeing books by writers of color makes them believe they're being called racist. Well, they may not have been called that before, but if the hood fits...
